Role
I served as a Professor’s Assistant (PED-C) for this course. My work included holding student support hours outside regular class time, assisting with grading, occasionally teaching in place of the course professor, and preparing both written and computational course materials.
At Unicamp, PED (Programa de Estágio Docente) is a graduate teaching internship program through which graduate students support undergraduate instruction under faculty supervision.
Course Overview
This course introduces fundamental numerical methods for the approximate solution of algebraic and differential problems arising in mathematics, science, and engineering. In addition to presenting standard algorithms, the course emphasizes error analysis, numerical stability, and efficient computational implementation.
Syllabus
Floating-point arithmetic. Real zeros of real-valued functions. Linear systems. Polynomial interpolation. Numerical integration. Linear least squares. Numerical treatment of ordinary differential equations.
