Application Requirements:

 

Who may apply for Master's course:

  • The bearers of the undergraduate degree in Mathematics or any related area.

  • Undergraduate students that can prove the real possibility of obtaining the undergraduate degree until the enrollment period of the entrants in the program, or later, as stipulated by the higher instances of Unicamp. Students in this situation must provide the respective documents.

 

Who may apply for PhD course:

  • Candidates with Master's degree or final students of Master's courses in Mathematics or any related area. The latter ones must provide a statement from their supervisor, signed by the coordinator of the program, which shows the probable date of the defence of their master's dissertation. This date cannot be later than one month after the beginning of the respective semester.

  • Final undergraduate students and candidates with only undergraduate degree in Mathematics or any related area. Such candidates are designated as direct PhD candidates. The former ones must provide a statement from their Institutions of origin, signed by the person in charge, which shows the probable date of completion of the undergraduate course. This date cannot be later than one month after the beginning of the respective semester.

 

**Master's students accepted for the PhD course will not be able to receive PhD scholarship from the Program scholarship quota before the defence of their Master's dissertation.

 

Application Procedures

 

Candidates for Master's and PhD Courses should proceed as follows:

 

1. Fill out the online application form on the DAC homepage, through the SIGA system (Graduate Admission System). The system is available in the Online Services for Students. The application form must be filled out completely. Incomplete applications will be automatically disregarded. Late registrations also will be disregarded.

 

2. Send the documents listed below through the link http://www.ime.unicamp.br/posgrad/inscricao:

  • Application form

  • Complete undergraduate records. PhD candidates should also provide their master's degree records except for direct PhD candidates.

  • Copies (no need to authenticate) of university diplomas (undergraduate, master's degree).

  • Updated Resume (curriculum). Students coming from undergraduate and/or master's courses in Brazil should send their updated Lattes curriculum. Foreign students should provide detailed resumes in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Resumes in other languages will be disregarded.

 

3. Candidates for the Master and PhD programs must provide at least two and three recommendation letters respectively. These letters should be written by professors, researchers or other professionals, and sent directly by them. To do so, candidates must specify the e-mail addresses of the referees at the time of their registration through the link www.ime.unicamp.br/posgrad/inscricao/ and click to confirm sending an email invitation to the referees through the system, allowing them to fill out the letter of recommendation directly online. For PhD candidates, one letter should be sent by their Master supervisor, except in cases where the candidate has not attended or is not attending a Master's program. Letters sent by the candidates themselves will be disregarded.

 

Foreign students

 

Special Students

  • Enrollments of students willing to attend isolated courses may be accepted.

  • The students in this condition are Special Students and the credits obtained may be validated in the case of the student passing to the category of regular student in one of the Graduate Programs.

  •  The student not enrolled in Unicamp and candidate to be accepted as a Special Student in Mathematics Graduate courses may be invited to pass a selection exam in the course MA111 (Calculus I) with informed date and schedule.

 

Registration procedures

  • Consult the timetable regarding the offering of the desired discipline

  • The application period for special students is usually at the beginning of each semester. Check the pre-registration and enrollment deadlines in the University Calendar

  • Register in the SIGA - Academic Management System;

  • In the application form, it is necessary to upload the records and corresponding undergraduate and/or graduate diplomas in the same PDF file.

  • The result will be sent by e-mail.
