Two Pos-Doc positions are offered at the Mathematics
Department, at University of Campinas
– Unicamp, Brazil, for young researchers in Coding
Theory and Discrete Geometries.
University
of Campinas is one of the leading universities in Brazil and the
Mathematics Department is one of the leading departments in Latin America,
with a strong graduate program.
The
grants are offered by Prof. Marcelo Firer (mfirer@ime.unicamp.br), who is currently
interested in research in coding theory in spaces endowed with poset metrics, in the relation between metric and
probabilistic decoding criteria and possible applications using unequal
error protection. Representative recent works on those subjects may be
found here: [2014-A], [2014-B], [2013-A], [2013-B], [2011], [2009].
The
position includes a monthly grant of R$ 6,143.40 (Brazilian Reais, equivalent to US$ 2.450, approximately,
tax-free), air-tickets for the researcher, an additional payment in the first
month to cover moving expenses and an additional of 15% of his/her
monthly stipend that can be used to support research activities
(acquisition of equipment, books, participation in conference and so on).
The position is offered for two years.
Candidates
should send a short Working Project (at most 4 pages) including the
following items: 1) Title; 2) Name of the program supervisor; 3)
Institution (IMECC – UNICAMP); 4) Abstract; 5) Description of Research
Goals; 6) Working plan including working schedules and expected results. Beside
the Working Project candidates must send a detailed curriculum.
Candidates may send also complementary documentation, including copies of
published and submitted papers, a detailed research project,
recommendation letters and any other document that the applicant believes
that may enhance his application.

position is supported by FAPESP – the research agency of state of São
Paulo, within a larger project that involves researchers in Error
Correcting Codes, Cryptography and Discrete Math, from the institutes of
Mathematics, Computer Science and Electrical Engineers of UNICAMP. List
