2o Annoucement
Dear Colleague,We are sending this Second announcement as a responce to your interest in taking part at the 18th Brazilian Algebra School.
We ask all participants to send us e-mails containing the titles and abstracts of their talks. In case you have already done so there is no need to resent it once again. Attached you will find a .pdf file containing a partial list of those who already confirmed their participation. On the homepage of the School you will find the abstracts of these talks as well as other information available.
Please have in mind that July is kind of high season and it may be a good idea to plan your trip to Brazil well in advance. You will have to book a flight to the Sao Paulo International Airport (Guarulhos). There is a shuttle bus from the airport to downtown Campinas (the ticket costs approximately US $ 8 and the trip takes approximately 2 hours). More tips concerning Campinas's region soon will be available on the meeting homepage.
Some of you may need a Brazilian entry visa, notably US passport holders as well as most East European and Asian countries' citizens. Please contact the nearest Brazilian consulate and check with them whether you need a tourist visa. If yes please let us know, and give us the details - that is the address and the fax number of the consulate.
The activities of the School will start on July 19 (Monday), so we recommend arriving here in Campinas on July 18. Most flights arrive at Sao Paulo early in the morning.
We contacted a couple of travel agencies here for the possibility of
organizing a two day trip after the School. Most probably it will be
a trip to Foz do Iguaçu. The site is famous for the world's largest
and most spectacular waterfalls as well as for the world's largest
dam and hydroelectric plant. More information about Foz you may find
at the following address: http://www.cataratas.hpg.ig.com.br.
An alternative address with more photos is http://www.grupogsn.com.br/foz/
All of these is in Portuguese but the pictures do not need much of text...
The trip will be with tourist guide(s), and will include flights, hotel
accommodation (with meals), and trips to the waterfalls and to the powerplant.
The package will cost approximately ...
If you are thinking of taking part in the trip please let us know in advance
and do not forget to make the appropriate reservations for you return flight
(best Sunday, July 24, night).
