Title: Metamorphosis of Light into Being: Of the Luminous and of the Dark

Abstract: In this invitation to physics I will discuss broad issues with some specifics. On the one hand I'll suggest a new first-principle approach to quantum gravity, and on the other, briefly introduce fields with an intrinsic darkness. I also will talk about the interface of the gravitational and quantum realms, and at the same time weave a story suggested in the title.
